I got hold of my first jigsaw puzzle when i was 10 years old. A gift from my aunt. 'Twas a 500 pieces puzzle. One would expect it to be a colorful picture of disney characters or a page from a superhero comic book; but no, it was a picture of a beautiful villa in france located on top of a mountain overlooking a small town surrounded by mountains. I loved it. In fact, i enjoyed putting it together so much that i finished reconstructing the whole thing in just 2 days using only the spare time that i have after school. My aunt was so impressed that she sent me another box two months later. It was a 1000 pieces puzzle of Chateau de Chambord. One of the great castes in Europe. I finished reconstructing the whole thing in 4 days. Though i enjoyed reconstructing jigsaw puzzles, i didn't get to be addicted to it. Life is a huge jigsaw puzzle for me. Insanity would get the best of me if i'd dare count the number of pieces life's puzzle has. Art, Science, History, New Technology, Music, Sports, Gaming, Literature, and the Unknown. These are the major pieces of Life's puzzle that i am interested on and this is what my site is all about.

Just this May, I was sent by Hercor College in Manila to attend a workshop on 3D Modeling and 3D animation. In my 3D animation class (which consisted of 4 students including me), one of my classmates is McAllen Reonel Sebastian A.K.A. Mars. The first time I saw him, my first impression of him was "This dude is way too serious for his age!". Little did I know that i was too close to the truth on my impression of him! Huh? Let me explain that by giving you a short background of Mars…

                                                                                  —————————-

Christened as Mc Allen Reonel Sebastian Sales Cacacho, Mars (his acronym nickname), started doing scientific researches at fifth grade. His Biothermosensor, a gadget that could measure temperature at the tip of the fingers, made him the Most Excellent among the Ten Outstanding Young Scientists (TOYS) at the age of 12.

During his high school, he headed the Inventors’ Club in his school and was elected as President and Chairman of the Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs in his region. Among his ventures were the Science Skills Olympics and the Local Science Fairs where students enrolled in both Science and non-Science Curriculum were to present and defend their researches.

He joined the Philippine Science Fair in 2002 and lost in the Nationals. But, a year later, he made major improvements in his Remote Biological Thermometer and Sensor research, a thermometer that could measure temperature by remote from as far as 10 meters from the patient, and environmental temperature at a 3-kilometer radius, thus, making a breakthrough in Engineering Telemetering Technology. The remote thermometer was initially used by general hospitals in the region for hygienic temperature measurements. Also, in the advent of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), prototypes of his gadget were distributed to Hospitals in Guangdong, China.

On March 2003, he was awarded the Best Science Project Award, Best Consultants Award, and Semiconductor Technology Award in the National Science Fair. In the same Fair, he was proclaimed as one among the Philippines’ delegates to the International Science and Engineering Fair in Cleveland, Ohio, USA held on May 2003 and in Beijing, China on a later date.
